Halloween, and end of 2/4 goal

November 3rd, 2008

So, Halloween party was last night.  I blew off the WSOP circuit event in Indiana to go to this party because my “date” was an absolute knockout.  Welllll, she got sick yesterday morning, so I had to make a last-second run to Halloween USA.  I ended up getting an Oinky McBacon costume that was pretty hilarious, and I ended up having an alright time.  Can’t really say it was great, but I did get a number, and I met a couple of cool people, so it wasn’t a huge failure, although I’d rather have gone to Indiana.

Getting back to poker today was fun.. I made enough to be confident to move back up to 3/6 and 5/10, so I’ll be back at that starting tomorrow.  And speaking of tomorrow, I sign my papers to get the money for my 350Z!  I can’t wait to get the actual car.

I really liked the motivation of having a goal, so I’m starting a new goal.  Starting with this session, I will try my hardest to not look at my HM results until November 30th.  I think I’ll stop creating useless goals (the 2/4 goal) if I don’t see how much I’m down, and I won’t go on a spending spree if I don’t see how much I’m up.  So I’ll be trying that out and updating on how that goes.

Busy week this week, signing loan papers tomorrow, getting car hopefully Tuesday, Skyler’s 21st birthday dinner on Wednesday, Hooter’s with Pete and whoever else on Thursday, and going out with Skyler on Friday/Saturday maybe for her birthday stuff.  Probably not too many hands will get put in this week, but who cares?  It’s +life EV.

Peace.

This might not take too long..

October 31st, 2008

So I decided to play today.  Here’s the overall graph including last night’s hands:

So, +$7k in my first day of only 2/4.  That went well.

A rant, a goal, and a reward

October 31st, 2008

We left off with me final tabling a big tournament, and making 6 figures on the year.  Wellllllll, things aren’t so cheerful right now.  Lets begin.

Things kick off with me getting seasons 1-3 of Entourage in the mail on Tuesday.  I watched all of season 1 while I grinded, and won $1k.  I was kinda tired, but was talking to my boy Pete (the one that went to the MTT with me, and my new potential manager) and decided to begin season 2 and see how games were.  Well, I found a 68/32 at nl2k, and was on top of the world.  So I sit down, and 2 more fish are there!  Shippp.  Then I lost set under set, TP vs a rivered 2 pair and QQ v JJ that hits a set in a 6k pot.  Mehhh.  I end approximately -$5k.  I never realized Entourage Season 2 cost so much. I lay down and try to sleep but to no avail.

I eventually fall asleep, and wake up at 1pm on Wednesday.  I tried to go back to sleep at like 3, but Kayte and 2 of her friends walked in the door.  She whined about me getting her a car.. I laughed a bit, and then decided to look for cars for me.  After calling my buddy Brett, I got talks of a loan started.  The car I found was like $3k overpriced, so I looked again.. after a bunch of us went to the Maumee River to check out the scenery.  It was a fun walk and was nice to get outside.  We get home, I get back on autotrader, and found a used car with 30k miles for $20k after taxes.  So, as of Wednesday, say hello to my new baby.  A 2006 Nissan 350Z:

So we get home, and I go to Pete’s at 9:30 or so.. and grind a mixture of 2/4-5/10, and win $100 or something.  We play in our homegame, I win another $180 at .5/1, and we watch the WSOP stuff.  It sucked seeing Dean bust, because I met him at the HPT event and he final tabled it with me, so seeing him lose the pot to Marquis was sick.  I decided to 2-table 2/4 HU and got rocked.  KJ allin against K9 on a K234, river 9.. all that stuff.  I dropped $2400, but grinded back to -$1k and called it a night.

This run bad/play bad thing has caused me to make a goal (or punishment) for myself.  I’m playing 2/4 and only 2/4 6-max until I win $10,000; I’ll keep the blog updated daily if I can, and after day 1, I found myself up $2,500.  Maybe this goal won’t be so bad after all…

I’m busy this weekend, Chelsi and Trina are coming up for a Halloween party and I can’t wait.  Trina and I are going as Adam and Eve, and I can’t wait.  She’s absolutely gorgeous, it’s gonna be amazing.  I’ll try to get pics up, I dunno if I want her on my blog with a bunch of horny poker players though :)

Peace.

I’m gonna be a TV star!!! (and a goal achieved)

October 27th, 2008

Look out Krantz, you’re not the only one getting on TV (although you’ll be on longer than me for sure)!

Four of us went up to Greektown Casino in Detroit on Wednesday to play a qualifier to the $1,650 Main Event of the Heartland Poker Tour.  None of us qualified though, so we figured we weren’t going.  The next night, Pete and I decided that we wanted to wake up really early on Friday and play the last qualifier they had — We overslept.

Waking up at 11:30 (the qualifier started at 11, with a 1.5 hour drive) ruined all chances of us getting into the event.  I grinded online for a bit, dropped a grand and texted Pete saying I think we should go.  He said if I stake him half, he’d go.  I agreed and we were on the road.

Day 1 started with me at the same table as Pete, along with a couple guys I played with in the qualifier, and a guy that seemed like a high-stakes internet pro.  First hand he raises, I flat with JJ, and 3 others call.  Flop T52, he bets 1100, I call, another caller.  Turn J, he bets 2200, I raise to 6100, he calls.  River K, I bet 10.5k, he calls with what I later find out is JT.  Wish I would’ve busted him as he turned out to be a huge pain in my side.  He doubled up a few times and had folded to one 3bet already and was showing down good hands.  He raised, I 3b AQo to 2100 at 100/200.  Flop was AK2r, I bet 3k and he raised to like 9500.. I felt ill and folded?  After that hand he seemed to never fold a hand.. he turned into a complete LAG, it sucked.  Eventually I find out that he won the 1k rebuy event at WSOP this year (why can’t I have knocked him out, amirite?).

So we move tables, and I just kinda survive.  We play until 4k/8k blinds, and I ended the day with 127k.  We drove back home for a day and drove back to Detroit on Saturday night.  Sunday morning came around and I got to the casino.  Turned out I was like 33/64 with my 13bb.. the structure was really bad.  We got to sit down and it turns out that the second flights of day 1 played to the 5k/10k level.. so we had to break off all the flight 1 qualifiers and play the 5k/10k level before we even started.  I got through that only losing 1500 chips.  Got to 7k/14k blinds, and I basically just grinded.  I never really got above 10bb and made it to the money bubble with like 180k at 10k/20k.  I got 99 on the bubble and thought I was gonna run into a monster, but shoved and took down the blinds.

Eventually we got past the bubble, and a guy shoved UTG with 98s, I woke up with AA in the blinds.  I chipped up to like 400k there.  Our table broke soon after and we were down to 30 people.  I stole a few blinds, and I had to call off a shove for 2bb when I was in the bb with K3s.. lost to aces.  So I was down to 300k or so and the same guy shoved again, another guy reraised, and I looked down at aces and shoved and held against TT and QQ.  That got me up to around 750k, and I stole a lot of blinds since I had a stack (13bb lol) now.

We went on break and when we came back, blinds were 50k/100k?!  Average stack was 721k, how the hell could we do this?  Meh.  I fold a couple hands, and UTG I get aces with 5bb and shove with no callers.  I shove AQs, and ATo and get no callers again.  I get UTG and get KK and shove my 850k stack.. the BB (who was the other big stack at the table) called with QQ and I held.  We soon broke to the FT and I was chipleader with this guy Dean who finished 10th in this year’s WSOP ME not far behind me.  He played better than me and ran better than me at the FT and we finished the FT (stopped at 6 handed for the TV final table) with me having 1.25million, being in 4th place (they bumped blinds down to 30k/60k).

We got interviews set up and got ready for the TV FT, and it was really a cool experience.  I was wearing my DeucesCracked hoodie throughout the day, but they wouldn’t let me wear it for the FT because CardRunners is their main sponsor.  Meh.  The FT started, and everyone was playing pretty tight, me included.  I played a couple hands and took down the blinds, and a guy asked how long before blinds went up when he was UTG.  He shoved, I called with AK, and he had aces.  NH sir.  That put me down to around 600k or so, and blinds were going up to 75k/150k soon, so I shoved 75o with 5bb or something.. got called by QQ and didn’t get there.

So I finished 6th for $27k before taxes.. $18.5 or something after taxes… $9275 after paying Mike because he’s a luckbox at staking.  So that puts my month up to around +$15k or something, which ALSO sets another milestone: I’m up 6 figures for the year!  That was my goal when I was still grinding 1/2 at a mediocre winrate.. and I got there yesterday.  Ship itttt!

That’s all for now, have a good one :)

Vegas!

October 15th, 2008

So my last update talked about going to Vegas.. well we did.

On the plane:

(From Left to Right: Me, Megan, Ian)

We left Wednesday evening and upon arriving to McCarran airport, I almost lost my luggage when I walked off without it.  Oops.  When we got there we played a little bit of poker and stuff, but nothing serious.

(From Left to Right: Joe, Megan, Me, Ian)

On Thursday, we played the $130 tournament at Caesar’s and I got 12th, 9 places paid.  I met chaucerchick from 2+2 there, and she’s pretty freaking sweet, like I thought she’d be.  I obviously busted with 77 against A5, but whatever.  3 people from our group made the final table and got like 9th, 7th and 2nd.. we pretty much dominated it.  That night we celebrated a bit and played a bit of blackjack and stuff.. I dropped $300 there. I forget what we did after that, but I couldn’t sleep at night, and I went down to Caesar’s to play 2/5 and made like $1200.  I decided at like 8am that I was gonna go back to the room and take a nap before the 12pm tournament, and I took a shower and decided that I wasn’t sleepy.

Went to play blackjack and get breakfast with Dyssard, and I won $175 at BJ cause I’m a champ.  Had a hamburger and fries for breakfast (lol) and went to play the $340 tournament at Caesar’s.  I had a shitty run of cards and figured I was gonna get spewy, so I got a massage instead.  I folded every hand for the 45 minutes of my massage.  That was an amazing massage and I ended up getting two more from her (her name was Joy, and she definitely was one), and got 21st in the tournament.. 9 paid again.  Sigh.

After that I was pretty pissed, and decided I was gonna go to the Venetian.  Joy told me to ask for Rachel, and so I found her and she was an amazing masseuse too.  I ended up dropping like $600 at 5/10, and just racked up and got a massage at an empty table.  She worked my back so well that I finally had a good sleep and felt really well — apparently I have a curved spine and it’s causing my muscles to be unaligned.  But yeah, if anyone gets a massage in Vegas, ask for Joy at Caesar’s or Rachel at Venetian - tell them Trevor sent you :).

So Saturday comes and we got up at like 10:50 and had to check out by 11.. so I packed all my stuff really fast and checked out.  I went to Caesar’s while they went to New York, New York, and I got a final massage from Joy.  I played 1/3 and won $200, and got a call from Pete to head to the Bellagio.  Played 2/5 there with Pete, Andy and Dyssard.. and an asian guy recognized my face from 2+2 (I assume from all the photoshops of my facebook picture), so that was really exciting that I’m semi-famous.  I lost like $600 overall there, but had fun anyways.

I had plans to meet chaucerchick for dinner, and so I walked to the Mirage to meet her, and we went back to her house to see her dogs, and they’re pretty sweet.  Here I am getting attacked by Killer (I think).

After seeing the dogs, we went to a bar and got a bite to eat.  I had probably the best BBQ wings ever, and after all that, we played pool.  I kicked her ass 2-0 and had to get back to the Venetian so she drove me back there.  I got a decent picture of the Rio and Palms while we were in the car.

So after that, I get to the Venetian and get on the list for 2/5.  After getting sat down for the final massage with Rachel, I decide I don’t want the seat after all.  I end up getting a 90ish minute massage, and just really enjoyed it.  I need a personal masseuse here, that’d be amaaazing.  My back is still messed up but it’s not so bad anymore thanks to Joy and Rachel.  When it was time to go, we got our luggage and headed to the airport.. and I realized I didn’t have my car keys.. because I left them on the stand in the hotel room when I rushed to check out.

I tried to get a cab back to the airport but I was like the 9th party in line and decided that I couldn’t make it in time, so I just gave up. I called Skyler (my roommate) and she didn’t pick up.  So I called her little sister and tried to get my spare set of keys up to the airport.  She talked to her mom and we were texting and my phone died.  I had no idea what to do so I just got on the plane and slept.  We got to Minneapolis for our layover and plugged my phone in and got a text from Skyler saying her friend was gonna bring my keys to the airport.  We got to Detroit at like 9:30 and Brittany got there at like 10 and I gave her $100 for bringing my keys, and we headed home.

After getting home, I’ve basically been sleeping most of the time, and trying to get back to playing online.  That’s basically the update, so in about a week or two I’ll update again.  :)

Vegas tomorrow!

October 7th, 2008

It’s 7:30am, I’m about to head to bed, but I just wanted to update that I’ll be touching down in Vegas at 8:30pm tomorrow night.  Going with 7 other people from my town, I can’t wait. I’ll try to get a trip report but I doubt I will, I’ll take pictures though.

Poker has been decent this month, I think I’m up $4k so far in not many hands.. I’ve been really busy with an upper respiratory infection that I finally recovered from and have been working with Chloe trying to train her and get her in a “good dog” mode and trying to get her to stop biting and jumping and stuff.

Don’t really have too much to say here, just wanted to say that I’ll be in Vegas, so my internet time will be limited and stuff.

Have a good one :)

Small update

September 29th, 2008

Well, a day after my last update, Chloe got a mouth infection.  She got into something that messed up her gums and she could hardly eat for like 2-3 days.  She finally got better and is growing really fast now.  She’s starting to bite really hard and has cut open my fingers like 3 separate times.. I gotta get her to stop that.  Newest picture of her:

As for me, I’m starting to get sick I think.  My throat feels scratchy and my nose is really runny.  I’ve felt like absolute shit the last couple of days.  On top of that, I was supposed to go to Toledo today, and right before I left, the car started making shitty noises.  It turned out to be the egr valve being fried, which caused the wires around it to melt.  So $200 later, I got a new egr valve and we got that put on and fixed.  Still have to get the new wires as well as the tensioner for my belt to get that fixed… fuck having a car.

As far as poker goes, ASDFHLAKJHFADSFH.

That’s all for now I think, heading to bed.

Downswing + new member of my family

September 17th, 2008

So since my last post.. Things have kinda sucked.  I really haven’t gotten pictures of the house, because I’ve been pretty upset.  I’m on my biggest monetary downswing ever, it got up to like 15k before I started booking wins two days ago.  I’m pretty upset, and after one day of -7 buyins, I went out and bought a PS3 and a few games to ease the pain.  It helped but I was still pretty sad.  Then on Monday, I played live poker with 6-7 guys from my new town, and after that Pete and I grinded online, and later Leo came over… with his puppy.

It made me realllllly want a puppy, so yesterday Skyler (and her son Tristan) and I went to the pet store.  They had no puppies but told us to go to the humane society.  We got all the way out there and the humane society was closed for the day.  We called information and found out where the animal shelter was and went there.  We went into the first cage, and there was a litter of 5 puppies as well as 2 or 3 other puppies.  They were all loud and jumping up to the fence.. except one puppy.  She was so calm and so relaxed.

`We liked her right off the bat, but we went into the other room, and saw a beautiful husky puppy but it was unable to be adopted until the 19th.  Sad story.. the rest of the puppies were really meh, so we went back into the first cage and pulled out the shy, quiet puppy and played with her.  She was really upbeat and excited and got along with Tristan really well.  Soooo, $55 later, and $300 at PetCo later.. we adopted Chloe.

Here she is on the way home from the animal shelter:

After we got home, she and I played for a bit, but she was whining a lot because she missed her brothers and sisters.. and she still does today, but she’s getting better.  She’s really cuddly and loving and just really is a good dog so far.  She slept well through the night, but on our walk this morning.. the garbage truck passed us and hit a bump and it made a really loud crash noise and that combined with Chloe still being kind of asleep made her insanely afraid of walking on the sidewalk.  It’s gonna take a lot of training to get her to be okay again I think.. but other than that, she’s the perfect puppy.

Here she is playing with her frisbee this morning after we calmed her down:

So yeah, I’m on anti-tilt for quite a while now with Chloe in my life.  Trying to get things around and get happier.  Chloe’s about to wake up though (she’s chillin on my lap :)), so I’m gonna cut this off.

Good luck at the tables!

Early morning ramblings again

September 6th, 2008

So I’m officially moved into my new house in Bowling Green.  I turned in the keys to my old apartment yesterday morning and have all of my belongings here.  I’ll have pictures when I finish unpacking, and when Best Buy comes to deliver my TV.  “What TV” you ask?  Well I strolled into Best Buy after finishing stuff up with the old apartment.. and they had the display model of Samsung’s 61A750 (Yes, that’s 61″ <3) left for $1700 (originally $1900).  I bought that, a nice stand for it and installation/calibration.  Ended up being $2800ish or something, but that doesn’t matter to me because I just hit Supernova earlier today and sent in my receipt for concierge already.  They haven’t replied to me yet but they already said it was approved, so I assume I’ll get the money soonly.

I’m jumping from one thing to another because I’ve been awake for 26 hours and I played poker for 14 of those hours.  It was my first session since moving into the place, and I really like having an office, it makes me more determined to get good, solid hands in because there’s no TV, there’s no xbox, there’s nothing but a computer, and it’s so helpful to get hands in.  I got something around 7500 hands in today, made $6k.  This month is going well, up something like $10k overall for the month, and really feeling good about where my game’s going.

My next update will be either Wednesday night or Thursday morning after my TV gets installed, and I’ll have house pictures in that entry.  I turn 21 on Tuesday, but I don’t drink so it’s not really a big deal other than the fact that it’s a “milestone” birthday or whatever.

Okay, headed to bed, g’night guys!

Sooo I can’t sleep again..

August 31st, 2008

I’m halfway (hopeful estimation to say the least) moved into my new house, and I have to have the rest of my stuff moved by Friday morning.  It’s going to be a really hectic week, and I’ll be insanely busy for most of it.  I should be more stressed, or more frantic, or something.. but I just don’t feel the need to start packing up my kitchen stuff yet.  I have all my clothes in the new house (oops), all my DVDs as well as my 360, and pretty much everything except my couch, TV, workstation and kitchen stuff moved.  I figured with no distractions, I’d be able to focus on nothing but packing up the rest of my apartment and grinding.

I’m pretty sure I am ahead of schedule on the packing, considering it should just take a solid day’s work to get the kitchen packed.. so I decided to put in some hours tonight.  I made the mistake of playing after posting my monthly graph in BBV, and as everyone knows, that’s destined to make me lose.  Well, I lost a buyin at 400, a buyin at 600, and a buyin at 1k over something like 2500 hands (5.5 hours!).  I’m REALLY disappointed in my play, but a lot of it was flips all-in pre.

I have entirely NO room to complain though as this is my new best month by like $10k, so no matter what I happen to do today will screw it up (hopefully!).  That’s enough about poker though, there’s too much poker in this blog.

Life will be awesome in like 2 weeks.  First of all, I will be moved into my new place with Skyler and her son and her cousin Todd.  It will cut down on my monthly payments, will keep me involved with people and not so holed-up, for lack of a better term.  I think it’s gonna be awesome, hopefully nothing happens to fuck it up.  The second reason why life will be awesome is that I’m FINALLY turning 21 on September 9th.  I don’t drink or anything, but just to know that I can go into bars and clubs and stuff feels like some huge weight lifted off my shoulders, even though there’s really nothing that I’ll enjoy then that I can’t now.  Whatever, I’ll be happier, so it must count for something.

I promise to take and upload pictures once we get most of the stuff moved into the house, it’s mostly just chillin’ in the living room now while we get the rest of our crap moved in.  Some stuff about the house though while I have time:  It used to be a frat house, it’s about 50ft from Bowling Green State U.  It has 5 bedrooms, 2 baths, and was completely tore apart and remodeled before we moved.  There is new carpet in every room in the downstairs and new wood flooring in both the bathrooms and in the kitchen and laundry room.  The upstairs bedrooms just got the wood re-finished or whatever, but it’s all good.  There’s new countertops and cabinets in the kitchen, and new vanities and utilities in the bathrooms, and new paint in every room.  It’s basically ALL new, and I can’t wait until we get electric and cable and all that hooked up so I can stay the night.

Yesterday (Friday), my friends Amber and Kristen, that I haven’t seen in like 3 years, went to Toledo to get Amber’s 3mo. old daughter’s pictures taken by our mutual friend (and my best friend) Brooke, and after that we all walked around the mall and stuff for a while and got dinner.  I wasn’t hungry due to eating while I was in BG with Skyler, but got a couple of cookies and a blue raspberry Icee (when did they start making blue raspberry Icees?  Never seen them before and LOVE them) and while I was eating, Whitney (Amber’s daughter) like wouldn’t take her eyes off of me.  I dunno if it was the cookie or me, but they were all saying how I have a new little girlfriend, so that was kinda cute.

At around 6:30 I drove back home, and due to being awake for 27 hours, almost drove off the road 3 times.  Like, I never fall asleep while driving, but I almost did on more than one occasion on the drive home.  Such scary shit, like I woke up over the yellow line all 3 times.. I finally made it home and went straight to sleep (for 14 hours!).  Woke up to my mom banging on my door to get some of my heavier stuff moved to the house (sofa, bookshelf, etc..).  Love her to death, she’s saving me so much money on everything.. I gotta repay her at Christmas!  :)

I think that’s all for now, finally I have some life stuff to put into this blog, expect a lot more life stuff from now on as I’ll be around a LOT more people with the college being so close and whatnot.

Run well!
